We checked every quote in 29 reports against the contract

Findings in a FixMyContract report quote the clause they came from, so you can check them against your own document. This page shows how we tested that — and what the test does not tell you.

Every report goes through the same check before you see it: a quote that isn't found word-for-word in your document is corrected, removed or clearly labeled. For scanned or photographed pages, the report tells you the quotes couldn't be matched.

The Territory is defined as the USA only (Schedule 2), and this clause lets the Supplier sell directly to end users there at any time, effectively letting it compete with the Distributor in the only market it covers, on top of the appointment already being non-exclusive.

What we measured

One thing: whether the words a report quotes are actually in the contract. For every finding with a quote, we searched the original contract for that exact text — ignoring only differences in capital letters, quotation marks, dashes, spacing and list numbering such as (a) or 2. A quote either appears word-for-word, or it doesn't.

We checked it two separate ways: with the same quote check the product runs, and with a simple independent text search. Both gave the same answer: no quote in the final reports was missing from its contract.

What we didn't measure

  • Whether the findings are right. A quote can be real and the explanation around it can still be wrong or incomplete. We did not grade that.
  • What was missed. A clause the report didn't mention doesn't show up in this test.
  • The first draft. Before a report reaches you, a quote that can't be found is corrected or removed. That step ran on 15 of the 29 contracts. We did not keep the drafts from before that step, so we can't tell you how often the first draft got a quote wrong. The 330 of 330 result is partly a result of that check — which is what the check is for, and we would rather say so.
  • Other kinds of contracts. All 29 are English-language business contracts between companies. No leases, job offers, freelance contracts or NDAs were in this test.

How we did it

  1. The contracts. 29 contracts from CUAD v1, a public dataset of commercial contracts filed with the US SEC by public companies (The Atticus Project, CC BY 4.0). They range from 1 to 27 pages; 2 included page images as well as text. They are listed below.
  2. The analysis. Each contract went through the same analysis a Pro subscriber gets, on 22 September 2026.
  3. The check. Every quote in every final report was compared with the contract text, two ways (see above).
  4. What we don't know. The step that picked these 29 out of CUAD's 510 contracts wasn't recorded, so we can't tell you how they were chosen. The list is here so you can judge the mix yourself.

Limits

  • 29 contracts is a small test. It says a lot about this set and less about every contract.
  • One run, on one date. The analysis changes over time; we will re-run the test and date each result.
  • CUAD contracts are large-company deals written in English. Your lease or job offer may read very differently.
  • A quote being real doesn't make the finding right. Read the clause, not just the summary.

Check it yourself

  • On your own contract: open any finding in your report, copy a few words of its quote, and search your document for them (Ctrl+F on Windows, Cmd+F on Mac). It should be there, word for word. (For documents with selectable text. For scanned pages, the report says when quotes couldn't be matched.)
  • On a public contract: every contract above is in CUAD, which anyone can download. Run one through FixMyContract and compare.
  • Without uploading anything: the sample report shows what a quoted finding looks like.
