Six things worth checking in an endorsement agreement

How your name and image may be used.

Check the media, the territory, the length of use and whether the brand can edit your content.

Limits on how much, where and how often.

Some deals cap or require a set number of posts or appearances. Check both directions.

Your liability, with no cap.

Check whether your liability is limited at all, and whether you are covering the brand's claims about its own product.

Exclusivity with competitors.

Look at which brands you may not work with, and whether it continues after the deal ends.

Disclosure of the paid relationship.

Check who is responsible for labelling posts as sponsored, and what the contract requires you to write.

Use after the end date.

Some brands may keep using content already published. Check for how long.

What endorsement agreements in a public contract dataset contain

We counted clauses in the 24 endorsement agreements among 510 public-company commercial contracts from the CUAD dataset (The Atticus Project, CC BY 4.0). These are larger-company deals, not a sample of every endorsement agreement — use them as a reference point, not a rule.

Stands out

  • A volume limit: 15 of 24 (62.5%) — across all 510 contracts: 16.1%.
  • A cap on liability: 4 of 24 (16.7%) — across all 510 contracts: 53.9%.
  • A license grant: 18 of 24 (75.0%) — across all 510 contracts: 50.0%.
ClauseIn these 24Across all 510
A cap on liability4 (16.7%)275 (53.9%)
Liability left uncapped for some breaches0 (0.0%)111 (21.8%)
A right to end the contract without cause3 (12.5%)183 (35.9%)
An assignment of IP ownership5 (20.8%)124 (24.3%)
A non-compete7 (29.2%)119 (23.3%)
An insurance requirement9 (37.5%)166 (32.5%)

In this set, endorsement agreements set volume limits and granted licenses more often than the average contract, but capped liability far less often — check what you owe if something goes wrong.

Small sample: with 24 contracts, one contract moves a percentage by about 4.2 points. A clause being rare here is not a reason to leave it out of yours.

Questions people ask

Is the endorsement agreement review free?

Yes — your first analysis is free for good, one contract per account, no card. You get the risk score and every finding by name, with the two most important explained in full. The rest are listed but locked until you unlock the report for $9 or start a plan.

Does this work for influencer contracts?

Yes. Influencer and creator deals are endorsement agreements; upload the contract or paste the terms from the brand's email.

Will it tell me my rate is too low?

No. It reads the terms, not the market. It will flag terms that give the brand more rights than the fee suggests, such as open-ended use of your content.

Is my endorsement agreement private?

It is private to your account and is never used to train models. Uploaded files are deleted after 30 days. From 30 September 2026, your report stays in your account until you delete it.
